Haier Black & Decker BPC08CJ Portable Air Conditioner, 8000-BTU

I purchased this unit exactly 30 days ago and I am quite impressed with it. I live in California and the weather here has been crazy. One day the temperature was 98 degrees and it was December!!! This unit cooled my entire bedroom in 30 minutes making the temperature steady at about 67 degrees. I was and still am quite impressed with this unit.

Whynter ARC-12S 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Platinum

This portable A/C works great. I sincerely doubt that it will really cool a 450 sq ft area but it does a great job for my bedroom upstairs...which is all I was really concerned with. My bedroom measures 13' x 12' or 156 sq ft and it takes about an hour to get from 85 F to 69 F. Setting it up was a breeze. The only problem I had was with the window exhaust kit. The expandable PVC plastic window mount wasn't long enough to cover the entire height of my bedroom window...it's about 5 inches too short. I had to cover that space with a piece of plastic that I cut to fit and duct taped in place. One thing I don't like about this unit is the placement of the exhaust hose...it's in the back. Some units have it on the top of the unit so that you can place the unit almost flush against the wall. The back of my unit sticks out about a foot and a half from the wall which makes getting around it a slight pain in the rear...but hey, at least I'll be cool this summer :). Another con...it doesn't have oscilating louvers. The louvers are fixed and can't be adjusted up or down. There are lateral louvers behind the front grill that can be adjusted manually from side to side with a slider. Oh...and one more thing...it's pretty loud when the compressor is running. It takes some getting used to.

LG Electronics LW8011ER 8000 BTU Electronic Air Conditioner with Remote

Now on my second season and runs very well. Temps over 100 everyday now an this unit cycles on an off as needed. No fan noise as other reviewer had stated. They can be damaged in shipping but mine worked better than expected out of the box. Easy install an this unit replaced a GE that only lasted 3 seasons. Highly recommend an the energy star rating is just a big plus........

Haier CPN12XH9 12K Portable Air Conditioner

Purchased portable A/C to replace window unit (eyesore). Easy to move romm to room and put away when not in use. We use it to assist our central A/C in the summer, when wife cooks (a lot) and as backup incase power goes out, we can hook it to portable generator. So far works great. Cools room quickly and is quiet. We have it in the room with TV and we do not have to turn volume up real loud. Does have the normal hum of any A/C. I will write back in a few months to update on performance and quality. We live in the south, so we run our A/C's in December.

almost year later. Still working great. use it constantly. we live in N.O. so we do not have long winters looking at possible purchasing a second one.

Love this fan, its small enough for my cubical desk and quiet not to disturb my phone calls and cube neighbors. My office runs hot and cold, with a 10 or 20 degree diffrence just down the hall.
